The Compex iWavePort WL54G, 54Mbps Wireless Cardbus card, is an ideal solution for mobile wireless users. It is small in size, light in weight and low in power consumption. It has a maximum coverage of up to 400m in an outdoor environment. In a pure G wireless environment, the iWavePort WL54G is able to enhance its data transfer up to five times that of 802.11b hardware. The WL54G is backwards compatible with existing 802.11b equipment. With the support of 64-bit or 128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), security for wireless LAN communications is provided. This card is advertised as having an external antenna connector.
The one I received did not have this connector. The ability to connect an external antenna is the only reason I bought this card.
In Amazon's defense, they are willing to take it back.
The card with the connector is an older version with a prism54 chipset.
The one I received has a RT2500 chipset.
Both cards have the exact same model number, so I can't blame Amazon, but they do need to update the web page.
