Vista replacement drivers for Windows XP December 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A client of mine did not like Vista A Gateway M-6332 Did not have WinXP drivers available for the WiFi card. This is nice inexpensive replacement.
A common Intel chipset and it works very well.
What Gateway should have used in the first place.
Excellent product, shoddy documentation December 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product is intended to ONLY work with an Intel Celeron based motherboard. Do not attempt to use this in an AMD-based machine. Don't waste your time here.
Great little card December 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my MSI Wind netbook to switch out from the terrible card it came with. Installation was a breeze (I did it on my lunch break), and the new card works great. I used Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux; both recognized it immediately. With Ubuntu (Hardy and Intrepid) I didn't have to compile any drivers, excellent!
Linux Wireless October 23, 2008 My new Dell Inspiron 1520 would not connect to my Wireless Network on Linux. After some reading it appeared that the Intel Pro/wirelss 3945ABG should work. I always get great service through Amazon and affiliated vendors so they were my choice to order this wireless card. Service was fast as always. I installed the card per the Dell online manual which took about 10 minutes. I booted to windows first and the card was recognized and installed within less than a minute. Everything worked great. Next I rebooted into openSUSE 11.0 Linux. The card was recognized and was quickly configured with YAST. My network is WPA protected and in both systems it worked without any problems. I have had no problems after over a month in use. If you want better range and have a wireless N router I would recommend getting a wireless N card for your computer. For my purposes I get good connection throughout a two story house with the router in the basement. Great buy and a great product.
Does not work with AMD64. June 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm an Ubuntu user and was looking for a card that would "just work" when I installed. This looked promising for other Ubuntu users, but no where was it mentioned, except for the leaflet that came with the device that this card is designed only for Intel (specifically Centrino) processors. THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH AN AMD64 PROCESSOR! I'm sure this card is great, but when I put it in my laptop, a Dell Vostro 1000, it would not even boot. I ended up replacing the worthless Broadcom card that came with the laptop with a Atheros chipset based card using Madwifi drivers and it is working perfectly.
