Product Description For PCs with PCI Express (PCIe) slots, the Intel PRO/1000 PT Desktop Adapter offers the newest technology for maximizing system performance and increasing end-user productivity. Specifically, the Intel PRO/1000 PT Desktop Adapter uses auto-negotiation to allow the adapter to run at the highest available network speed (10, 100 or 1000 Mbps), and it maintains full bandwidth capacity with the dedicated 2.5-Gbps bandwidth of a PCI Express input/output (I/O) bus to provide connectivity you can count on.

Rock solid on linux October 25, 2008 I replaced my cheapie gigabit nics (Realtek chipset) with the Intel nics and the difference is like night and day under Linux. 50MB/s file transfers are now the norm. You can go cheapie on most other computer parts but don't do it with nics under Linux.
Works and Fast October 18, 2008 Can be installed in the 3rd PCIe x16 slot in an EVGA 780i SLI motherboard.
So you can have 2 video cards and the quality of an Intel network adapter running at PCIe speed.
Great gigabit network card! April 14, 2008 Being an Intel product I installed this with no trouble. My wired network speed went from 5 MB/sec to about 9 MB/sec for a 5GB file transfer. I thought it should be better so I did a little serching and found out that a setting in the windows xp operating system had to be enabled. After I did this, a reboot and reset of the switch and router I got an amazing 20 MB/sec transfer rate! It really saves file transfer times greatly, especially if you edit and archive large video files as I do. I would recommend this card to anyone.
Love the card April 13, 2008 This is a very good card and it works with CentOS 5.0 just fine. Intel ROCKS!!!!
Excellent Ethernet Adapter for Vista X64 February 25, 2008 I installed this card in my DELL VOSTRO200 desktop PC with Windows Vista X64. The adapter and driver software work perfect.
