1 out of 5 stars Broke in 1 week   November 7, 2008

I followed the product instructions and got the ePen up and running. Liked using it because it's different from other mouse designs. It stopped charging within 1 week. The manufacturer didn't respond to my calls (left messages but no reply). My email inquiry was bounced.

2 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but...   October 30, 2008

I own this product under a different name, Salient Technologies. I am positive it's the same thing. Same device and buttons, same little blue pad, same USB receiver. I paid a good bit more than Amazon is selling it for. Having said that, if I had it to do over again, I would not buy this even for Amazon's price.

I'm not an artist. I'm a programmer. Clicking around for many hours a day gets exhausing with a traditional mouse. In that regard, this device was great. But there's a few problems:

1. If you don't hold it in EXACTLY the right position, it won't track. That made it difficult to get across by 1600-pixel wide screen.

2. Salient claims some ridiculously high battery life. Within two weeks of ownership, I found myself recharging every 4 hours. If I recharged it on Friday night and did nothing over the weekend, the battery would be dead on Monday morning. If I remember correctly, Salient was claiming a non-use battery life of up to 30 DAYS!!! Yeah, right!

3. The little blue pad you see in the picture has a magnet to hold the device upright when not in use. The magnet is not strong enough. My hand accidentally hit it several times, knocking it to the floor. My floor is carpeted, but that impact was still enough to jar loose the optical sensor, making the already difficult tracking (see #1) even worse. For the price I paid, I'm stunned they didn't provide a small cradle of some kind for more secure storage.

It is a good idea, but the product needs refinement.

5 out of 5 stars I love mine!   May 11, 2008

Look folks, ANY time you try a new mouse design it's going to be awkward at first. I've had mine for about a year now and I can't imagine going back to a regular mouse. I'm a heavy Photoshop user and 3d mesher and this pen gave me the feel and precision I'd longed for. My only complaint is that it's a bit thick but I couldn't find anything else out there as close as this is to a real pen.
Hmm, some padding would be good, too, as I have a terrible habit of gripping too tightly in my creative throes. But my hand never hurts as bad as it did when I was gripping a regular mouse.

1 out of 5 stars BEWARE   March 3, 2008

I bought this item from Amazon thinking I was getting pressure sentive model. They sent me the ez-529 only with cord. Apparently the ez-529 with usb cord is now the new ez-528.
Amazon doesnt sell the pressure sentive pen model anymore.
I went through big customer service mixup with Amazon.
I dont think its Amazons fault though.
Go to Ezonics and do reasearch first.
They seem to have two models with EZ-528 model number and you may get wrong items.
I tryed calling and email ezonics with no answers.
Any company thats stupid enough to name two different models the same number and same name Epen isnt worth doing business with.
