It's just a toaster August 20, 2008 I don't know how they can justify charging over $100 for a toaster. It makes toast that's all. All I can say is it's very average and functional. Besides the price my only other gripe it that the springs inside are too strong. It will send your toast half way to the ceiling. Heavy bagels are fine but small bread or lighter english muffins will launch out of that thing like a rocket. One time my toast flew out then bounced off the cabinet and ended up on the floor. Another time it ended up in the sink. You would think for that price they could make something a little better. Well at least it looks nice there on the counter and I do like the lift function to help remove small items like toaster pastry. My advise would be to save your money and just get a cheap one.
The worst toaster ever December 8, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is seriously one of the worst toasters I've ever used. Not only does it toast unevenly, it burns everything, even frozen things, even on the lowest setting. On the bright side, it looks nice.
Worth every penny! March 22, 2007 I have tried numerous toasters, but this one is by far the best so far. It is a bit pricey, but it was worth every extra penny. It makes toast nice and golden brown and very QUICKLY, which is a plus on those busy school mornings. My bagels come out golden on the fronts and just heated on the backs...just like a toaster oven. I've read some negative reviews about this product, but I haven't had any problems at all. It is a keeper!
Most-used toaster I have January 22, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love this one, and I have a collection of 20-odd toasters.
The dual wide slots are the only way to go. If all you eat is wonder bread and pop tarts you wouldn't appreciate it, but the wide slots let you toast 2 slices of larger loaves. The variable width slots are great, I can easily put in a hamburger bun or sliced french roll. The bagel setting will toast only on one side ( the proper way to toast a bagel ) and this works well with the burger buns or rolls. You press the center button when you want bagel mode so you won't accidently leave a switch in the wrong position.
I'll agree you won't be able go get 20 different shades of brown from the controls, I think I used 3 once, but it usually hovers around 2-1/2. I'm happy with the results at that setting though. I think you use 5 for warming your kitchen up on a winter morning.
I was surprised when I got it that unlike the traditional Dualit it will pop up the toast when done, but at least you can still lift the lever to make it easier to remove hot toast without getting your fingers burnt.
If i had it to do over, i'd get something else January 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros: There are lots of little heating elements (unlike my former Braun that had one central coil running down the middle of the toaster) for even toasting. It's a nice looking toaster. You can get a sandwich cage for it, which is a really nice feature for making panini. You can lift the lever after toasting to raise small pieces higher for easier removal.
Cons: Frozen english muffins are getting pretty dark on the 3 setting (i can't imagine what happens at 5 or above!), and things pop out of the top - if there is only one piece of bread it pops out onto the counter). It also doesn't seem to be any faster at getting the job done despite the number of heating elements. It is primarily plastic, although that's not inherently bad, but for the money, i do think it should be a better toaster with more features, like defrost, bagel toasting, etc.
